Dessert Festival 2018, Jaisalmer Rajasthan

Hey Everyone,

I once read that a Dessert is a place without expectation. Until recently I believed that but on my recent trip to Rajasthan’s Interiors I saw things peoples totally unexpected and got completely amazed by the hospitality, patience, and perseverance of Rajasthan, let alone dessert.

Even with the harshest of Sun & toughest of climate, Rajasthan offers warmest of smiles with hearts as wide as their desserts

Speaking of unexpected, we got to experience the opening ceremony of Maru Mahotsav or Dessert festival 2018 in Jaisalmer. We had no idea of its grandeur & the effort locals and government put in it to make it so.

There were Camels decorated with brightest of Pom-Poms, Jaisalmer’s Royal family, Men with silver swords with facial hair even bigger than my whole face. Ladies clad in traditional attires and lust-worthy jewelry.

Dessert Festival is celebrated every year for three days prior to full moon in Jan-Feb. It celebrates the prophecy, according to which Lord Krishna told Arjun about a Yadav successor who will set up the kingdom on Trikuta Hill(Triangular hill). Prophecy becomes true when Rawal Jaiswal a Yadav successor established Jaisalmer in 12th Century after his name.

The government now equally celebrates the festival as it enhances Tourism. Even BSF & Army take participation in various competitions like Camel race and Fighter plane stunts.
